You

Seduction

You are so beautifulit would be indecent not to look, hypocritical

Moving my eyes awayfrom your bodywould be blasphemy,a sin of arrogance

Who am I to turn downGod's gloryand to reject his making?

I'm only a decent,pious man.Come to me…

The news

Today I dieand I am bornagain

Today I'm not a manbut a thousand,a whole tribe of menand their yearnings

The memory of the fallen, the burning hopes of the living, darkness and light

Lifeis what I am again, for the first time

Sonogram

A heart…A heart beating…A heart beating in your chest

Your chest, the size of a lentilYour heart, the size of a grain

Your soul,permeating my conscienceI'm aware of you now,my dear,I'm aware…

Touch

I wonder if you feel mewhen I touch your mother’s belly

I wonder if you feel mewhen I feel you…

I wonder if you’re sleepingand, while sleeping, you’re dreaming

that we are together, that you are with us,here and now, dreaming…

Lullaby

You were an egg,you were a sperm, you were a single cell

that split in twoand then in four, but hidden to our eyes

You were a dot,you were a bunch,little fish in a shell

Big as a tinygrain of rice,a bean, a prune, a lime

I read today,in this thick book,that you’re big as a pear

with tiny fingerstiny toes…(yet so big in my heart!)

Epiphany

A brief kickthrough your mother’s bellyhas brought upon mea revelation

Wise men have sentencedthat only that which is knowncan be loved

But for surethey are wrong

Since I don’t know you yet,my dear,and I already love you

Equinox

Through my window I seethe shadow of this towerprojected on the green field below.

It points towards the Dome, temple of my god of knowledge, signalling the equinox is here:the sun cuts the day in two halves.

When it has crawled its wayto the northernmost edge, the time of the longest daywill have come.

And with the solstice, along with summer, you shall be born.

Prophecy

One day, my love,if God blesses you with lifelong enough to awakento this reality of ours, you will start to pondera question that will growinside you: who am I?why am I here?where do I come from?

I, who have felt your bodybefore you have seen the world, think of this, too,not tomorrow, but today,as your mother walks around the housewith that enormous bellythat, according to Simon Magus, resembles heaven and earth.

I think of this, while you—asleep in that sweet mysterythat is life in the womb—kick and move under her skin.I can feel your little feetpushing outwards, furiously,to make more room for your willor to reach us and whisperthat you are almost ready,

to let us know that your warm nesthas grown too small for your new bodyand that your soul is setto be expelled from Paradise,to breathe and think, rejoice and suffer,to love and fear, and seek the truth, the answer to doubtsboth trivial and eternal.

You will think one dayabout time and space, reality and illusion;yet you won’t rememberwhat I have witnessed today:your deep, sweet sleep in Eden, and the first signs of your awakening, the beginning of all things.

Flame

Long have I struggled to put into wordsthe spirit of this flame that consumes menow that you have come…

this pain, this joy, and this hope

I give up, as it exceeds me

This much I will say:May one day you knowhow much I love youMay one day you lovesomeone this much
